"Creating a Culture of Exposition" with Derek Buikema
Pastors in the Chicago area are invited to our next Pastors' Lunch on Thursday, July 9 from 10:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at The Orchard Arlington Heights. Join us for teaching, lunch, fellowship and prayer with other pastors in our region.
We know that man does not live by bread alone, but every word that comes from the mouth of God (Matt. 4:4). But how do we help our churches develop a hunger for God’s Word, particularly the expositional preaching of his Word on Sunday mornings? This can be especially challenging as our churches are shaped by a culture that prizes entertainment and consumerism.
At this Pastors’ Lunch, Derek Buikema will share practical counsel based on his own ministry at Orland Park CRC. It is a testimony to the slow, undeniable power of the Word, and a plea for pastors to endure patiently so as to create a culture, in their own context, of exposition.
Derek Buikema (BA, Wheaton College; MDiv, Westminster Seminary California; ThM, Calvin Theological Seminary) is Lead Pastor at Orland Park Christian Reformed Church in Illinois, and a Council member of The Gospel Coalition. He has served as President of the Synod of the Christian Reformed Church of North America and is also an instructor with the Charles Simeon Trust, both in workshops and in the Chicago Course on Preaching. He and his wife, Aubrey, are raising four wonderful children.DETAILS
